About Our Company

OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1926 by Michael D. Lavelle and John Gorman, Gorman-Lavelle has been a family-owned and operated business for almost a century.

Michael D. Lavelle (MDL) led the company for a significant period until his four sons – Anthony, John, James, and Eugene – joined after completing their education and military service during World War II and the Korean War. Anthony assumed the presidency in the late 1950s, with MDL transitioning to Chairman of the Board.

In 1974, James Lavelle took over the presidency as Anthony stepped down, and John Lavelle assumed the position of Chairman of the Board.

Timothy Michael Lavelle, James’ son, started at Gorman-Lavelle in December 1982, eventually becoming President in 1994.

Presently, Brett A. Neff, a Board of Directors member, serves as President, while Tim holds the positions of Chairman of the Board and CEO, upholding the family’s tradition of commitment and service.

The next generation of leaders includes Tim’s children: Mary M. Lavelle, Joseph J. Lavelle, and Adam C. Podway.
